Once you have established how much the roof sag needs to be jacked up lay a 2x4 plate across the ceiling joists and nail directly under the ridge of the roof.

With the large beams in place workers cut five holes in the side of the barn and slid in five smaller beams one next to each bent the transverse supports inside the barn.
Seems to me the dormer rafters should have gone to the rige instead of having that small amount of roof coming down to that beam.

Placing the bottom part of the first brace using a 2x6 and a floor jack we gently pushed a small section if the roof into level.
